Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action invites you to join us on Saturday, August 4 through Monday, August 6 (Hiroshima Day) as we celebrate our the 30th Anniversary and join in nonviolent direct action to close the Bangor Trident submarine base.
On August 6, 1945, the nuclear weapon "Little Boy" was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, Japan, followed on August 9, 1945, by the detonation of the "Fat Man" nuclear bomb over Nagasaki, Japan. These are the only instances of the use of nuclear weapons in warfare.
The Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action offers the opportunity to explore the root of violence and injustice in our world and to experience the transforming power of love through nonviolent direct action. We resist all nuclear weapons, especially the Trident submarine system. The Trident submarine base at Bangor, just 20 miles from Seattle, has become home to the largest single stockpile of nuclear warheads in the U.S. arsenal. In November 2006, the Natural Resources Defense Council declared that the 2,364 nuclear warheads at Bangor are about 24 percent of the entire U.S. arsenal.
