Antonia Juhasz, a leading international trade and finance policy expert, will talk about her new book The Tyranny of Oil. The hardest-hitting exposé of the oil industry in decades, this book investigates the true state of the US oil industry. With virtually unparalleled global power, the industry wields influence over elected officials, has a lack of regulatory oversight, and hides its business dealings from the public. The Tyranny of Oil offers both a new take on problems and a new set of solutions as Juhasz puts forward an immediate call to action and formula for reining in the industry, its governmental lobbying power, environmental destruction, and violence while reducing global dependence on oil. The event is sponsored by United for Peace of Pierce County.
