Help keep our youth from being coerced into military service per the "No Child Left Behind" law.
A clause in "No Child Left Behind" mandates that schools provide the military with student contact information -- edresses, phone numbers, physical addresses. We need your help passing out opt-out forms at local high schools. These forms prohibit the school from passing along students’ contact information to military recruiters, which the school must do otherwise. We’ll get you the forms, if you can help us pass them out to students outside of the high schools.
Shifts of 1½ hours seem to work well. The more people we get on each shift, the better because then we can cover several entrances. We do not distribute the opt out forms on the school grounds, but from sidewalks nearby. Stadium HS was covered on Monday, August 13th. Foss High School was covered on Monday, August 20th.
